The MCA is concerned that the water use estimate by the Hawkins Companies for their proposed Lowe's development off Highway 270 between Pullman, WA and
Moscow, ID, just over the state line from Moscow, is inadequate. The application submitted does not indicate which aquifer it will be draw from and underestimates the volume of water needed to supply this proposed development. Given Moscow's precarious water situation and our declining aquifer levels, MCA believes that more information is necessary about the true water requirements of this development before it is approved. Given MCA firmly believes in open and transparent government, we strongly oppose the secret, closed-door agreements made by the current City Council and Hawkins without input from voters or the Moscow community at large.
