The Action Group on Elections and Debates encourages and sponsors grassroots political discussion. In accordance with our mission statement, we encourage political debate on local issues and races in Moscow and Latah County. We aim to encourage open government and citizen involvement on local issues of importance. We are particularly interested in bringing those issues and races to the attention of the local citizenry.
The Action Group on Elections and Debates is not a Political Action Committee, and neither it nor the Moscow Civic Association gives money to political candidates.
The MCA endorsed two candidates, both of whom were elected, in non-partisan Moscow City Council races in 2003. The MCA also endorsed two candidates (mayoral and city councilman), both of whom were elected, in the 2004 election. The MCA has not supported or endorsed candidates in the partisan primary or general elections for county, state or federal offices.
The Moscow Civic Association is endorsing three candidates for election to the Moscow City Council in November - Tom Lamar, Aaron Ament, and Linda Pall. In making the announcement, MCA President Bruce Livingston noted that the
MCA selected the candidates because they share the organization's vision for the future of Moscow. They all support smart and responsible growth, preserving our quality of life, and protecting our community-oriented vision for the future."
