The Future Of Moscow's Ice Rink

Home About Us Join Us Board Community Issues Urban Myths Archives Hot Links Volunteers Contact Us	The Moscow Civic Association believes that a fully enclosed, full size ice rink in Moscow is a valuable and desirable community asset that promotes an increased quality of life and economic growth. The recreational opportunities made available through such an ice rink are widely sought and supported by the community. Given the difficulties facing the current ice rink at its location under the multiple jurisdictions of the Fairgrounds Board, Latah County and the City of Moscow, the MCA believes that pursuit of a more appropriate rink location within the City of Moscow, with strong support from the City of Moscow, is the best available course of action. The MCA believes that a public/private partnership between the City of Moscow and private groups supporting the ice rink, such as the Palouse Ice Rink Association and the Rotary Club, offers the best opportunity for retaining and improving this important community asset. Among the various options to be considered in support of the ice rink, the MCA recommends that the City seriously contemplate transferring land owned by the City, through a favorable long-term lease at nominal cost, to a private, non-profit group willing to finance, construct and operate a full size, enclosed ice rink.
